Hunting History

Hunting game for food, clothing and shelter is a big part of the story of the human race. It predates the human civilization we know today in many ways. There is evidence that we used larger animals for food almost two million years ago.

Hunting Safety

Every year, hundreds of hunting accidents occur across America. Many of these accidents could have been avoided by practicing gun safety techniques. If your weapon came with an ownerís manual, read it from cover to cover.

Bow Hunting

With bow hunting, people are getting in touch with the control of the hunt and are learning all sorts of new things about getting in tune with themselves and using their own bodily power to get in touch with the zen of hunting.

Well, I hope you are going with somebody who knows what they are doing. As a matter of fact, that’s the 1st thing you should take.

I would suggest extra ammo, a field dressing kit (knife, a small saw, and gloves), and a buddy. I would never hunt alone…to dangerous.

Depending on where I am and how long I am planning on being out, a flashlight, a compass or GPS unit, knife for skinning and small lightweight sharpener, water, trail mix, and a cell phone turned off.

FIRST AID! can’t believe no one has mentioned that yet. compass, appropriate license(s), toilet paper, hand sanitizer, field dressing gloves, knife, water, water purifying tablets, power bars, rope to pull dead game with, cell phone, trail markers, water proof matches or lighter, I carry all this and more.

T.P. (Toilet Paper) Serves two important things..The “obvious” for nature calls…….and as a blood trail marker if you hit a Deer and need to track it. TP makes it easy to see a blood trail regardless of the weather. Also gives you a great indication of probable direction of travel if you lose the blood trail and look back at your previous trail markers. This of course, in addition to all of the “basics” listed by previous answers, but just as important. Something this simple can make the difference between a “found” Deer and a lost one……Good Hunting…..

When you prepare & practice properly all you really need is your Rifle or Bow & ammo, rope, hunting knife.* Keep it simple..*
