Hunting History

Hunting game for food, clothing and shelter is a big part of the story of the human race. It predates the human civilization we know today in many ways. There is evidence that we used larger animals for food almost two million years ago.

Hunting Safety

Every year, hundreds of hunting accidents occur across America. Many of these accidents could have been avoided by practicing gun safety techniques. If your weapon came with an ownerís manual, read it from cover to cover.

Bow Hunting

With bow hunting, people are getting in touch with the control of the hunt and are learning all sorts of new things about getting in tune with themselves and using their own bodily power to get in touch with the zen of hunting.

Product Description

The evolution of power leaps forward with Minn Kota's newly re-engineered PowerDrive V2 Series of trolling motors. The most tried and trusted electric steer motor is now enhanced with intuitive, ergonomically-designed features that deliver more performance than ever. The PowerDrive V2 series also offers a redesigned foot pedal, new deploy-assist lever, and digital electronics enhancements.

Key Features of the PowerDrive V2 Series:

Minn Kota's Digital Maximizer technology supports up to five times longer run time on a single charge.
  • Deploy Assist Lever: Features a new deploy-assist lever that puts you in motion and in pursuit of fish quickly and easily. Simply depress the lever to deploy the motor and you’re ready to go. When it’s time to move, it stows easily and securely--ready for action again as soon as you are.
  • Ergonomic Foot Pedal: Offers precise speed adjustment, right/left steering, and both momentary and constant On/Off. Features the industry’s highest IP68 waterproof rating and 18' cord. Optional wireless foot pedal available.
  • AutoPilot: Spend less time steering your boat and more time catching fish. Simply put, AutoPilot keeps your pursuit of trophy fish headed in the right direction.
  • CoPilot Compatible: The wireless CoPilot remote control accessory (available separately) lets you control speed and steering from anywhere on the boat. With CoPilot you get every fish-fighting advantage and a clean, uncluttered deck while eliminating the fatigue of being "locked" to the foot pedal.
  • Digital Maximizer: Up to five times longer run time on a single charge. Conventional speed coil technology wastes energy by delivering a constant, steady flow of power to the motor--regardless of the speed setting--resulting in wasted energy. Pioneered in 1985, Minn Kota’s innovative Maximizer technology delivers the precise amount of power needed at any setting, along with variable speed control. Now, the advanced, digital microprocessing optimizes draw to extend battery life and reduce damaging heat. Get up to five times longer run time on a single charge.
  • Indestructible Composite Shaft: The standard of the industry since 1991! Pound for pound, the ultra high-yield composite material has been tested to be three times the strength of steel. Virtually indestructible, it flexes on impact and then returns to its original position. Unlike steel, will not kink, break, rust, or corrode.
  • Cool, Quiet Power: Extra-large windings and commutators are used to dissipate heat, resulting in cooler operation, extended battery power and longer motor life. A unique bearing system produces low rpms/high torque to cut down on fish-spooking noise.

Manufacturer's Warranty
All PowerDrive V2 bow-mount trolling motors feature Minn Kota's two-year warranty.

About Minn Kota
Minn Kota is the oldest manufacturer of electric fishing motors in the world with nearly 70 years of hard-earned experience in the lab and on the water. Throughout their history, Minn Kota has led the way in product innovation and cutting-edge technology. The Minn Kota electric trolling motor began its life in 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota. Mr. O. G. Schmidt, inventor of the trolling motor, was known to be a man of many diverse ideas. Prior to the trolling motor, Mr. Schmidt invented, produced and sold a copper soldering torch from his home in Wheatland, North Dakota. Due to its success, manufacturing operations were then moved to Fargo. Because of its proximity to the MINNesota-North DaKOTA border, Mr. Schmidt named the business The Minn Kota Manufacturing Company.

This is my third minnkota i had earlier autopilot wireless model, riptide, now this one in 48inch shaft. The good its beautiful black color, great aluminum build quality. How could MotorGuide come close to this motor they cant! I was looking for lowest priced decent motor. There are other types with different mounts but this unit is best. No clumsey wiring to foot control its all electronic baby with electric steering. Everyone says get 24v um why 12volt is simple offers great power to move 17 foot crestliner if i need longer trolling time add two batterys + to + neg to neg. I plan on installing 40amp inline circuit breaker or fuse close to positive side battery. The advantage of electric motors for trolling you can get the speed just right for pop gear worm, walleye fishing pulling bottom bouncers. I have a kicker motor but tell you what this unit gets used its more enviormently friendly must have for nice boat. Most important option on my rig! Amazon is fantastic super quick shipping like 2 days ground LOL. Autopilot feature on other motors is nice but not totally needed you just do more imputing on controls. Mounting read the directions look at sheet supplied. You will need a helper to hold unit where you want it in down position. Under two plastic side plates are where the bolts go. The motor must be far enough out from boat to lower and raise unit. Dont go to far out just enough. Try and center motor but off angle to right is preffered not straight ahead. They do offer a quick release bracket it will raise motor couple inches there nice to have for removing motor for winter but not required. Perfect score motor i see no way of improving its looks or function. Shafts for bow are toss up a super deep v alum boat like starcraft 19 id go 55inch shaft or lund tyee, fisherman. My crestliner sits little lower in water and 48 if fine!
Moves my boat

I did a lot of research before I bought this trolling motor. I saved $80.00 on shipping and tax by getting it here on Amazon.
Took it out to the lake last weekend for first time since buying it and installing it 2 months ago. I put it on a 17' crestliner "fish n ski" deep v that weighs 2050 lbs. withought gas. I was told by a lot of people to get the 54", but i resisted and did the math and got the 48' shaft. it is the perfect length.
The installation was easy. The motor performed well even with 20 mph head winds. Although i like the old school foot pedals better. I was able to turn the pedal sideways and push up for left and push back for right.
The long cord is a major plus cause it was way cold and i could get behind the windshield, instead of up on the deck in the freezing cold.
Best buy for a trolling motor for $500.
Great Trolling Motor

This motor was everything the maker claims it would be. It was fairly easy to install, and I really like the qick removable mounting system.
Minn-Kota used on pontoon

I purchased this trolling motor for use on my 24 foot pontoon and was surprised and pleased at how well it moves the boat through the water (2.2 mph according to my GPS - no wind). I have used it several times now and have yet to draw the battery below 50% charge so I don't know how many hours I can run on a charge. It goes all day with no problem.

The foot controls are a great idea but the direction (left/right) controls are too 'touchy'. They seem to over-react to the slightest pressure, I wish they could somehow put some kind of a buffer in the circuit. I can't say that I have really mastered it yet. The idea of controlling from the captain's chair is great (middle of the boat).

Getting the motor latched into holder after removal from the water is harder than it should be. However, once in place it is firmly held.

Overall I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this motor.
top notch motor

This motor proves why Minn Kota's name is tops in trolling motors. I put this on an 18' jon boat with a wide beam. It moves the boat great and ran for about 4 hrs the first time and the battery had only used 25%. I also purchased co-pilot with this and a quick detach bracket. Both great as well. I wish now I had bought the autopilot feature but the motor preforms great as is. My only complaint is that the battery leads were pretty short and that the instructions said the motor was to be used with a 60 amp fuse. I felt I should have been informed about needing extra components to use the motor. I have no complaints about stow and deploy as I've seen in other reviews.
